The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, visited the Port of Maputo on the 28th of May, as one of the strategic infrastructures of Mozambique.

Lagarde is in Mozambique to participate on the conference “Africa Rising”, organized by the IMF in the capital city, that takes place from the 29th of May to the 1st of June.

“I am very happy to be in Maputo and I was very impressed with this visit to the Port and to have seen with my own eyes how much it is developping. In particular, I was very impressed with the efforts that are being done in the training of young professionals that can have an useful role in the future of Mozambique”, affirmed the leader of this organization.

During the visit, Christine Lagarde had the opportunity to do a port tour and see the latest expansion and rehabilitation works, including the recently inaugurated Maputo Intermodal Container Depot.
