| New Rules for Access to the Port |
Port users must comply with new regulation, failing which their businesses shall be affected.
Since the beginning of August 2011the campaign to disclose the new rules of access to the precinct of the Port of Maputo have been underway.
Amongst others, the new rules prohibit the entry and exit of light vehicles and pedestrians through gate 1 next to BrigadaMontada which has now been allocated for heavy vehicles. The port users have until 15 September 2011 within which to adapt to the rules, after which time no exceptions will be made, not even for the Port employees. Since the concession was granted, security has been a priority area for Port Maputo. All port users are now obliged to comply with the new rules, failing which their businesses may be affected. Indeed, failure to obtain the international security accreditation referred to above shall result in many countries not being able to receive goods originating from ports which do not comply with these standards. |
