The Port of Maputo has received a mission of the Italian Navy promoting some of the most important industrial sectors in Italy, mainly related to military, marine and furniture and decoration industry, in a campaign that will pass through 20 countries in the Persian Gulf region and Africa .
Aboard an aircraft carrier, the “Cavour”, who was accompanied by three other military ships, the 30th naval group of the Italian Navy has installed a business fair, which has about two dozen exhibitors.
During the visit, the naval group is also carrying out a humanitarian mission. The NGO Operation Smile is making surgeries to children with facial deformities on board the “Cavour” and Fondazione Francesca Rava, who fights against blinding diseases in children, is working on board “Etna” (another ship of the Italian Navy mission).
The naval campaign, named “A Country on the Move”, will be in Maputo until February 1st, heading afterwards to Cape Town, South Africa, and then to the port of Luanda in Angola. The campaign began in November 2013, should go about 36,000 miles and visit 20 countries before returning to Italy .
