The Maputo Port Development Company (Port Maputo) is a national private company from the partnership betweenCaminhos de Ferro de Moçambique, Grindrodand DP World. On 15 April 2003 Port Maputo was given the concession for the Maputo Port for a period of 15 years, with an option to renew for a further 15 years. In June 2010 the concession period was extended for a further 15 years, with an option to extend it for a further 10 years for any operations after 2033.
Port Maputo has the rights of finance, rehabilitation, building, operations, management, maintenance, development and upgrade of the whole concession area. The company also has rights of Port Authority and is responsible for maritime, stevedoring and towage operations, operations in the terminals and the warehouses, as well as the planning and development of the harbour.

What security proceedings must be complied with in the Port of Maputo?
Pedestrians and vehicles authorized to enter the Maputo Port must comply with various security norms and procedures for the protection of everybody in the Port. Pedestrians may only circulate in the authorized areas always displaying a visible identity badge. Vehicles may only circulate at 30 km/hour. All the signs in the harbour must be respected and safety equipment must be worn in the area of operations.
