On the 6th of December 2013 the Port of Maputo inaugurated a new bulk shed that will be used to accommodate the export of rock-phosphate. This infrastructure of 4,000 m2 with a throughput capacity of 500 000 tons per annum, had as Consultant Company Royal Haskoning DHV and as contractor companies Agro Alfa, Mota-Engil and ACEL. All the companies involved in the construction are locally contracted companies.

The completion of the work forms part of the Port Master Plan and is one of many projects planned to provide additional capacity for the Port of Maputo. The construction of the shed took 5 months to complete at a cost of approximately $US 4 million.
